adidas is not happy with Marc Jacobs

Fight for the stripe

Don’t mess with adidas is the lesson we are taking away from this latest snippet of news. The global sportswear brand has filed a lawsuit against Marc Jacobs, for using a four-striped parallel design on his knits.

Apparently this style is slightly too similar to the apparently “iconic three stripe design,” which adidas claim to have spent millions of dollars associating with their name.

adidas will be suing for statutory damages from the “irreparable harm to the goodwill symbolised by the Three-Stripe Mark.” Another point they argue is that the mark holds a “reputation for quality that it embodies.” Although we’re not too sure that Marc Jacobs is the antithesis of quality.

We’re sorry for you harm adidas, but didn’t you notice stripes were in?
