British Vogue is releasing a v rare centenary book, only printing 1916 copies
Bound by craftsmen, signed by contributors.
Stick a fork in every fashion book ever, because nobody is going to beat this.
Vogue has once again proved it’s the master of selling luxury goods, with the impending release of Voice of a Century. The limited edition tome, set to be released on September 15, is celebrating 100 years of British Vogue in the most Vogue way possible.
As far as fashion books go, this is the epitome of luxury. Only 1,916 copies will be released, and each will be bound by craftsmen and signed by contributors.

The book will feature a collection of photography, illustration and cover material published in Vogue UK over the years, as well as previously unseen correspondence between the magazine and industry creatives. Think the likes of Cecil Beaton and Helmut Newton, as well as exchanges between Vogue editors Lee Miller and Audrey Withers.
Excerpts from the first editor’s letter from 1916 are also included, with a preview as follows:
“‘The time has come,’ designers say, ‘to talk of many things — of shoes and furs and lingerie, and if one flares or clings, and where the waist-line ought to be, and whether hats have wings.’ Really and truly, such amazing things are going to happen to you that you never would believe them, unless you saw them in Vogue.”
The book will also bring together a series of original interviews with some of the magazine’s contributors over the past 100 years. According to WWD, photographer Juergen Teller recollects his first meeting with the late Isabella Blow, while Kate Moss recounts trip to Nepal with Christy Turlington and the Vogue team, where a shoot saw the models ride elephants.
In a nice touch, Voice of a Century is set for release on September 15, precisely 100 years after the first issue of British Vogue was released. In case you hadn’t put it together, that’s the year 1916, the exact number of copies that will be printed.
