Here’s your first look at Adelaide Fashion Festival 2016

October = Radelaide

October is the time when that little city we know as Adelaide becomes its cooler alter ego, Radelaide, (thanks in no small part to the Adelaide Fashion Festival).

Kicking off this year from October 19 to 23, Adelaide Fashion Festival will once again showcase some of the best local fashion offerings.

While we wait for the full program to drop, we’ve been given the lowdown on some pretty cool events happening as part of the festival. Here’s our pick of the lot.

The Runways

As expected, the main event at any fashion festival is, of course, the runway. Spread over the week, the AFF Runways will feature a mix of our favourite local talents. Designers include: C/MEO Collective; Keepsake the Label; Finders Keepers; The Fifth; Jaggar footwear; Acler; Naomi Murrell; Elizabeth V; The Daily Edited; Liza Emanuele; Alexis George; Suzana Lucci; Jaimie Sortino; Caleche; Greta Kate; Couture+Love+Madness; Eliza French and Liza Emanuele; SIG The Label; Casper+Pearl; STONE; Lexi; Julie White; Simmone Standing The Label; Autark and Sylvy Earl.

Local couturier, Paolo Sebastian, will close the festival with not one, but two back-to-back solo shows.

And if you like to go all out, this year AFF is opening The Balcony. This will allow you and seven friends to watch the runway from above, with premium SA wine and delicious tasting platters.

Daring and Disruptive with Lisa Messenger

If you want to get inspired by a serious success story, Lisa Messenger is basically the holy grail of power women. This is your chance to steal some advice from the CEO of The Messenger Group and editor of Collective Hub. The discussion will take place over a meal (yass) prepared by Simon Bryant, while Lisa shares her experiences in the industry.

Date: October 19, 12pm
Location: Mercedes-Benz Adelaide, 20 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Mile End

Variety on King William

Is there anything better than food and fashion? We don’t need to answer that. Guests to this runway will not only be treated to Spring/Summer Ready to Wear collections from King William Road retailers, they’ll also get to devour a three-course meal prepared by the area’s best restaurants. Convinced yet? Well, because a meal a meal without wine is simply breakfast (ugh), you can expect some of SA’s best drops to accompany.

Date: October 21, 1pm
Location: Hyde Park, King William Road

A Night Of Fashion at the Art Gallery

We fancy ourselves as somewhat arty. Tbh, attending events at museums or galleries makes us feel like a better class of human. A Night of Fashion at the Art Gallery merges our desire to be cultured with our love of fashion. The event will see some top Aussie designers showcase their SS collections alongside historic pieces of art and architecture at the Art Gallery of South Australia.

Date: Saturday October 22, 8pm
Location: Art Gallery of South Australia, North Terrace Adelaide

Norwood Parades on Parade

Nothing beats getting something for nothing. And when said freebie is a runway, you know you’ll find us there. Celebrating Adelaide’s premium shopping destination, The Parade, the event will see a runway covering current trends from the centre’s retailers. The day will also include a VIP high tea (for you fancy folks), the Norwood Fashion and Design Market (for the shoppers), as well as live music (for errryone to enjoy).

Date: Sunday October 23, 11am – 4pm
Location: The Parade, Norwood
