Going green.

Following the likes of H&M, Zara and more who have recently committed to more sustainable fashion production, Nike has signed its second major wind contract.

The deal will see Avangrid Renewables supply 86 megawatts of wind power to the sportswear giant. It’s the equivalent of taking 800,000 vehicles off the road for one year and enough to power 400,000 American households.

The carbon-free energy will come from the Karankawa Wind Farm in Texas, which is due for completion mid-2019.

“This agreement enables us to source 100 percent renewable energy across our owned or operated facilities in North America,” said Chief Sustainability Officer and VP of the Innovation Accelerator for Nike, Hannah Jones.

“Investing in renewable energy is good for athletes, the planet and for business.”
