There’s an Instagram account for hijab-wearing Barbie

It’s fantastic.

Thanks to Haneefah Adam, there’s now an Instagram account that sees Barbie wearing hijabs, @hijarbie.

It all began when she realised that she would like to see a doll dressed up as how she would: modest yet fashionable.

She posts images of Barbie, styled with nice clothes and matching hijabs. Sometimes she shares the real life outfit alongside.

Through Hijarbie, Adam wants to show the world that dressing modestly doesn’t mean you have to compromise on style. She hopes it will inspire Muslim girls to see that their religion and culture is beautiful and something to appreciate.

So far this year, the fashion world is all about cultural inclusion and positive body image. We saw Dolce & Gabanna’s new range of hijabs and abayas and Barbie releasing three new body types.
