This dating app is launching a campaign to combat violence against women

One in three.

It’s hard to believe one in three women still experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime.

In honour of International Women’s Day (that’s today laydays), dating app Happn has partnered with Equality Now to launch a campaign combatting violence against women.

If you haven’t heard of Happn, it’s that kinda creepy sounding app that lets you connect with people you’ve crossed paths with.

We’re all for the campaign, which will feature images of bruised models in user’s timelines, brandished with the title “I’m one in three.”

It aims to expose the harsh realities of abuse to users, signalling they likely know a woman who is a survivor of abuse.

In a world where only two-thirds of all countries have outlawed domestic violence, the campaign also acts as a call to action.

Global Executive Director of Equality Now, Yasmeen Hassan, said in a statement: “We hope that showing how enormous this problem is will inspire everyone to call on their governments to end all forms of violence against women.”
