This Friday is Fashion Revolution Day

It only takes a hashtag to join a revolution.

Ever heard of Fashion Revolution Day?

Maybe not. It’s only in its second year since it began marking the the predictable and preventable collapse of the Rana Plaza factory in Bangladesh, which killed 1133 and injured 2500 more.

Or maybe yes. Last year it reached number #1 trending worldwide on Twitter and got over 8 million Google hits.

Happening this Friday, Fashion Revolution Day aims to raise awareness of the true cost of fashion, showing the world that change is possible, and celebrating all those involved in creating a more sustainable future.

On Friday the movement is calling us all to upload a pic of our clothes inside out and hashtag #whomademyclothes. It’s to connect us fashion lovers with others spanning 65 countries and the people who made our clothes.

Last year, fashion icons, supermodels, authors, artists, designers and more lent support to the campaign. This year, the movement will be even bigger, with names like model Lily Cole and designers Kit Willow and Ginger and Smart asking the big question.

So join us this Friday through one simple action. Be curious, find out, make change.
