We now have a look at the forthcoming Comme des Garçons exhibition
Take us to NYC.
We now have a preview of the Costume Institute’s Comme des Garçons exhibition.
It’s only small, but it’s something.
Set to launch at the 2017 Met Gala, Rei Kawakubo/ Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between will be the second-ever Costume Institute exhibition on a living designer. The first being Yves Saint Laurent in 1983.
During a press conference in Paris, Kawakubo unveiled five examples from the exhibit. Spanning Spring 1997 to Spring 2017 collections, the preview came in the form of all-red pieces.
Not much else is known about the exhibition, with the Costume Institute’s curator in charge, Andrew Bolton, telling Vogue:
“[Rei] was very clear that this was not going to be a historical survey of her career, but rather something different.”
The exhibition will run from May 1 to September 4 at the Metropolitan Museum.
