Getty Images just banned photos which are retouched to make models thinner

Body positive.

Getty Images has been working to champion diversity and authentic representations of people for a little while now.

Earlier this year, it released 42 new stock photos of diverse men and women. Now, the image platform has announced a ban on images which have been retouched to make people look thinner or larger.

Getty cites French law changes around commercial images in France for the amendment of its Creative Stills Submission Requirements.

It’s an important move, as just last week model Emily Ratajkowski called out French publication, Madame Figaro, for allegedly altering her breast and lip size for its cover shoot.

The submission changes will be effective immediately.
