Michael Bay is producing a live-action ‘Dora the Explorer’ film and we’re confused

Interesting.

It seems like now’s the time for live-action remakes of all your favourite childhood stories.

Following the likes of Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast and a yet-to-be-released version of The Little Mermaid, Dora the Explorer is set to hit the big screen.

The little explorer is reportedly getting her own movie via explosion-enthusiast (and producer) Michael Bay. Yep, we’re confused too.

Paramount was previously working on a Dora the Explorer movie with writer Tom Wheeler and producer Mary Parent back in 2015. Now the film studio is planning to bring Nickelodeon’s animated show to cinemas with writer and director Nick Stoller.

The film will be a live-action adaptation and follow a teenage Dora, who moves to the city to live with her cousin Diego.

There’s no word on the inclusion of animal characters or not-so-inanimate objects, yet.

But can we just rewind for a second and revisit the fact that Michael Bay is producing it?

He’s the director of TransformersBad BoysThe RockPearl Harbour and many more movies with high-level pyrotechnics.

There’s no word yet on a Dora the Explorer release date, but rumour says it’ll be here in 2019.

Guess our little adventurer is all grown up.
