This is what the richest young people in the world do for work

*immediately launches fitness empire*

BRW’s Young Rich List for 2016 has been announced. And, in news that’s both inspiring and yet totally depressing for poor uni grads everywhere, top of the list are Australians – for the fifth time.

The founders of Aussie software company Atlassian, Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar, take the number one spot with a combined wealth of $4.68 billion.

The list, which records the wealthiest under-40s that have earned (not inherited) their wealth, dropped yesterday. Get your notepads out, here’s how to make a buck or two (million).

According to the stats, your best bet is to start a tech company (27 people on the list), make it in financial services (11 people) or launch a super successful retail chain (11 people).

You could also start up a super successful Instagram/fitness blog (Kayla Itsines takes out spot 51); publish a raunchy novel (Fifty Shades publisher, Amanda Hayward, is 94 on the list); or kick off your acting/modelling career (Miranda Kerr and Chris Hemsworth both make it also).

Sadly, there’s only eight females appearing in the top 100, leaving open a lot of questions. But at the very least, it’s fuelling our desire to launch our next get rich quick scheme.
