Robyn has always pushed the boundaries of commercial pop and her newest EP release is no different.
La Bagatelle Magique is actually a collaboration between Robyn, Christian Falk and her keyboardist Markus Jägerstedt.
Love is Free is a celebration of dance music and its many forms. The EP finds Robyn and Co firmly in rave o’clock territory and there’s a carefree attitude to it all.
Opener ‘Lose Control’ is the closest you’ll get to classic Robyn here, but it’s the stomping title track that steals the show. It’s basically a five minute rollercoaster ride through the ’90s rave scene, cow bells and 808’s galore.
While ‘Tell You (Today)’ literally sounds like four different songs chucked into a blender and then thrown at a wall, it all somehow works.
