Run The Jewels: Run The Jewels 3

A really fucking great record.

It’s about now, less than a month into President Trump’s questionable service, that the US needs artists like Run The Jewels.

Killer Mike and El-P return to spit rhymes to the converted, about the evil of the elite, public disobedience and violence.

“With a gun and a knife in our waistband/Went to war with the Devil and Shaytan/He wore a bad toupee and a spray tan…my job is to fight for survival,” we hear on ‘Talk To Me’.

If that’s not an effective call to arms right now, then nothing is. This is what hip hop is for. And RTJ3 is, in a way, a return to the old school roots of hip hop as protest art.

Apart from the politics? It’s a really fucking great record.
