How-to: Loose Lengths

Easy and effortless.

Effortless hairstyling is pretty much the ultimate daily goal. It’s the perfect balance of “I just woke up like this” and “I know how to be presentable.”

REDKEN 5TH AVENUE NYC hair director, Philip Barwick created this playful and effortless look for Michael Lo Sordo’s Resort 18 runway at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.

Here’s how you can recreate the look at home:

1. To prep the hair, apply a small amount of REDKEN Diamond Oil Glow Dry Style Enhancing Oil to towel-dried hair, followed by a generous spritz of REDKEN Rootful 06 Root Lifting Spray all over.

2. Blow-dry on a gentle setting. Use your fingers to shape and direct the hair around your head from one side to the other, lifting gently at the roots to direct air down the hair shaft to polish the cuticle and create soft volume.

3. Once dry, side part the hair above the arch of the brow. Taking small sections from the side part through to the middle part, use a large barrel curling tong to create volume at the roots by wrapping the hair in a C shape (rather than a full wrap around).

4. Create a side part on the opposite side and repeat all the way around to the back, creating soft, uniform volume. Shape the ends of the hair with the same curling tong, directing the loose waves towards the face.

To finish, evenly mist REDKEN Wind Blown 05 Dry Finishing Spray all over to create touchable texture with lightweight hold.
