We’re not really buying Kristen Stewart as Coco Chanel

Fiery?

Kristen Stewart has been chosen to play Coco Chanel for Karl Lagerfeld’s latest biopic Once and Forever, set to be released December 1.

Lagerfeld’s muse was his first choice for the role. It seems the intensity one learns from being a vampire has translated well into the new role, where Stewart plays a fiery and demanding Chanel.

Scrap that, she’ll actually be playing an actress PLAYING Chanel, while Geraldine Chaplin will play Chanel in later life – thank you for the clarity Lagerfeld.

Notoriously slammed for her wooden and unemotional acting, a fiery Chanel seems like the last role for Stewart.

Angsty yes, moody yeah, but fiery? This might just be one of those believe it when we see it moments.

Lagerfeld has praised the actress, who has fronted a number of Chanel campaigns and regularly attends Chanel shows.

Lagerfeld told WWD, “I think she’s one of the greatest actors of her generation. She gives the right emotion and the right intensity immediately so it’s very easy to work her…”

On her portrayal of the role, “she played it really, really mean,” he said.

“You only see her in tests and she’s complaining about everything. She’s mean with the director; mean with the producer.”

The 11-minute fictional biopic released first-look teasers of a frilled-up Stewart, which you can watch below.

Once and Forever will premiere at the label’s upcoming Métiers d’Art show on December 1.
