Nicki Minaj fronts Roberto Cavalli SS15 campaign

Cavalli don’t want none unless you got buns hun.

The new recruit for Roberto Cavalli’s latest campaign is unexpected to say the least.

Queen of buns Nicki Minaj is the erm, face of the label for Spring/Summer ’15 and we have to say we are surprised. After seeing the delicate styles grace the SS15 runway earlier this year (and obsessing over them since), Nicki Minaj would not seem exactly the right ‘fit’ for the collection. But damn she looks good.
Rocking a chic ’60s bob and shot by Francesco Carrozzini, Minaj is very much the Cavalli woman. And it seems RC had picked it from the start.

Cavalli said, “I chose Nicki Minaj because she embodies the exuberant and modern femininity of the Cavalli woman. In recent years we have become accustomed to women castigated in clothes that hide their body shapes. With this campaign, I wanted to send a strong counter trend message. I wanted a sensual woman who is aware of her body, who is not afraid to show her curves, rather she make them as a strength.”

Minaj follows the lead of previous Cavalli girl Rita Ora, who channelled Marilyn Monroe for the label’s Fall 2014 campaign.
