The higher the hair, the closer to god!

Words by

Sinead Stubbins

It was all about volume. Whether you devised an intricate system of bobby pins and headbands, used 3 kgs of mousse topped off with hairspray or just added a little more hair than you had, in the 1960s it was all about the highest and fullest mane you could possibly achieve.

Nancy Sinatra, Brigette Bardot and Jane Fonda were leaders of the pack, but these days Lana Del Rey is representing for the big haired ladies of America (and channelling some Priscilla Presley vibes while she's doing it).

The higher the hair, the closer to god!
