Everything you need to know about Mecca’s new Melbourne flagship store.
Calling all beauty lovers – the new Mecca Flagship store officially has an open date and we’d suggest clearing your calendars. Though it’s been years in the making, the multi-level space will cast open its doors in just a few weeks time.
The three-level space is three times the size of Mecca’s George Street store and more than 60 times bigger than the original Toorak Road store in South Yarra. Offering over 80 services, including makeup, nail, hair, skin and holistic treatments, and over 200 brands, it’s slated to be one of the largest standalone beauty destinations in the world.

“It’s the Mecca of all Meccas,” said founder and Co-CEO, Jo Horgan. “It reimagines what experiential retail can be, fusing creativity, culture and collaboration to create something so much more than a store.”

Where is the new Mecca Melbourne Flagship store?
The Mecca new store has found its home at 299 Bourke Street in Melbourne’s CBD. Formerly the Coles Book Arcade (once the largest bookstore in the world), the space spans 4,000 sqm. The building will house over 200 beauty brands, 300 staff and 80 services spread across three entire levels.
When does Mecca’s Melbourne Flagship store officially open?
Though the store has been in the works for years, an official open date has now been set. From Friday, August 8, customers will be able to visit, wander and swatch product to their heart’s content.
What services will Mecca’s Melbourne Flagship offer?
Where to begin? Mecca’s Bourke Street store is designed as a ‘three-level playground’, one you could easily spend the entire day wandering around. A few of the services on offer feature florals from Flowers Vasette, a nail bar delivered by Trophy Wife, acupuncture from Melbourne Apothecary, a hair salon from Josh Wood Hair and even in-store piercing services by Maria Tash.
Spread out across the store’s three levels, Mecca Bourke Street will offer seven new concepts:
Mecca Apothecary
Designed to support your holistic needs, the Mecca Apothecary is rooted in mind-body rituals covering sleep, gut health and skin sensitivity. It will introduce 15 new brands and offer practitioner services by Melbourne Apothecary, including naturopathy, breathwork, acupuncture and Gua Sha lessons.
Mecca Beauty Atelier
The Mecca Beauty Atelier is an all-in-one space, delivering hair, makeup and nail treatments simultaneously within 90 minutes – a perfect option for weddings, parties and other events on your calendar. Delivered by Josh Wood Hair, Melbourne’s Trophy Wife Nails and senior Mecca artists, it’s a private, backstage-inspired environment.
The Mecca Gift Box
Located on the mezzanine, The Gift Box is designed to meet all your gifting needs. Expect to find bespoke wrapping, personalised engraving and exclusive gift offerings, including Byredo blankets, Mecca x Slip robes and plenty more.
Mecca Aesthetica
With seven treatment rooms and a luxury lounge, Mecca Aesthetica’s new clinic will host a range of clinical services including meso-needling, microdermabrasion and laser treatments.
Meccaversity Auditorium
Naturally, there will also be a Meccaversity Auditorium. Opening late 2025, the education space will host events, workshops, founder talks and certifications.
Café Mecca
And for when you need a break, Café Mecca, perched on the first floor, will be there to satisfy your caffeine cravings.
What will Mecca’s Melbourne Flagship look like?
Many original features of Coles Book Arcade have been restored, including the heritage building’s arched windows, terrazzo flooring and shopfront tiles, as well as a reinstated mezzanine. Aside from an artist’s impression of the façade (pictured), the exact look of the store will remain a mystery until it opens on August 8.
