How-to: Akira’s textured updo

Simple and structured.

If you’ve ever been envious of someone with a killer updo, then we have just the thing for you. REDKEN is sharing the deets on how to get this simple head-hugging updo from Akira’s Day 3 runway show at MBFWA.

Created by REDKEN Australia’s hair director Richard Kavanagh, this genderless style gives off subtle ’90s vibes and nails the balance between frayed and fluid.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Prep the hair with POWDER GRIP 03 and PILLOW PROOF Two Day Extender Dry Shampoo.
  2. Sweep hair in a circular motion and pin with small bobby pins, to create a head-hugging shape.
  3. Delicately pull out some loose ends to create subtle fraying.
  4. Finish the look with a mist of new TRIPLE TAKE 32 Extreme High-Hold Hairspray for ultimate hold without the crunch.
