The everyday haircare essentials the FJ team uses each morning
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH JUSTICE HAIR
WORDS BY CAIT EMMA BURKE
From thermal brushes to leave-in smoothing treatments.
As anyone who’s ever experienced a bad hair day will tell you, the way your hair looks can have a noticeable impact on how you feel. While some are blessed with permanently lush hair, for most of us, the way our hair looks each day hinges on our routines and the products we use.
At FJ, we’re often trialling products, and when we find a hardworking haircare product that genuinely enhances our routines (and the appearance of our locks), we’re quick to tell each other about it. Recently, we put Justice Haircare’s range to the test and the products have become mainstays for each of us. Founded in Sydney in the 1990s, the brand’s range is made for both men and women, and there’s something for each and every hair type.
We like nosy people. Don’t be shy, head to our Beauty section for more.
Working alongside globally renowned hair experts, Justice’s products provide salon-quality hair from the comfort of your own bathroom, which our time-poor team loves. While we’ve been raving about the entire range, our Managing Editor has been adamant that the Moldable Wax is the real MVP. And honestly, after looking at her superbly slicked bun for the last few days – truly, there hasn’t been a single hair out of place! – I’m inclined to believe her. Below, we share the products from the range that have become our daily haircare essentials.

My collection of round blowout brushes consists of tools that I had stolen from my mum in my teenage years. While it goes without saying that the longevity of these brushes is extremely impressive, as someone who regularly sports a ’90s blowout look, I recently decided to invest in one of my own.
This one from Justice Haircare is super lightweight so it doesn’t double as a weighted arm workout, it features nylon and boar-like bristles for shine and volume and is ceramic-coated to make sure there’s even heat distribution.

As a curly-haired girlie, I try to only wash my hair once every seven to 10 days. But inevitably, beyond the first four days, my mop starts looking a little (sometimes a lot) worse for wear. Thank god for the slick bun and ponytail, my go-to hairstyle in the four to five days that lead up to wash day.
A slick hairstyle hides all manner of hair sins and recently I’ve been able to take it to the next level by slicking it back with Justice’s Smooth and Groom, a wearable treatment that makes my hair feel nourished and super soft while providing a great slick finish. I use it on both wet and dry hair, and I always notice my hair feels much healthier when I opt for this over gels and pomades.

I love a multi-purpose haircare product and the Smooth and Groom Ends Serum from Justice Haircare is my go-to for pre and post-styling. I run it through wet hair along with heat protectant before I blow dry and style and find it makes my hair look shiny and healthy without weighing it down.
A day or two later when my hair is starting to look a bit frail, I’ll run a small amount through my ends to add back in a little life. When it’s time to pop my hair into a bun before wash day, I’ll apply the serum to the ends before wrapping it up to help with breakage.

A little different from most of the team, my most-used product is a men’s styling wax. I find it’s the best way for me to introduce texture to freshly washed hair and give it that lived-in look. Once my hair is due for a wash, I’ll typically try and stretch it out a day or two, leaning heavily on a slicked bun. I’ve tried a number of products to slick back my hair, including oils, leave-in treatments and gels, but nothing quite holds my flyaways as firmly as a styling wax.
The newly-released Moldable Wax by Justice Hair is in my current rotation. It gives my hair a natural texture post-wash with a medium hold and, once slicked, adds a slight gloss. The product contains glycerin which, much like a hyaluronic acid, helps my hair retain moisture, meaning it’s been the hero of my routine in Melbourne’s dry, cold weather.
