Top Three: Fashion Journal’s Partnerships and Campaign Executive shares her favourite beauty products

I’m a notoriously nosy person when it comes to products. I want to know whether you double cleanse at night, and if so which cleansers you use. I want to know if there’s some special hair contraption or pair of tweezers that have (hyperbole warranted) changed your life. I want to know what curl definer you use and which lip balm you swear by.
But my interest in products doesn’t just pertain to the world of beauty – I’m always eager to hear about an air fryer that someone loves so much they’ve convinced their entire extended family to get one, or a laptop stand that’s corrected their posture and improved their quality of life by at least 25 per cent.

In short, I adore products. This is why I’ve asked some of our favourite Australian beauty and skincare influencers for their top three products, AKA the products they simply cannot live without. The scope is broad – it can genuinely be any three products, as long as they’re the three they value the most.
Joining us this week is Fashion Journal’s Partnerships and Campaign Executive, Georgina Woolcock. As an FJ team member, Georgina gets to try an array of beauty products, so her top three choices are backed by plenty of trial and error. Georgina’s beauty routine focuses on creating a clean base for her makeup through proper cleansing and avid SPF use and is all about being high maintenance so she can be low maintenance. Here are her all-time favourites.
Product one: Ultra Violette Supreme Screen SPF 50+

How did you first discover this product?
Like so many products I now use on the daily, I was kindly gifted this SPF alongside the rest of the Ultra Violette range. It didn’t quite become a staple until I was on a Fashion Journal shoot and bonded with Francesca Hung (who, FYI, has incredible skin) over our love for the brand. Since her recommendation of the one with the yellow cap, I’ve repurchased the product multiple times and it hasn’t left my side.
What is it and why do you love it?
Thanks to my mum, I’ve used SPF50+ every day since I was 16, so it’s safe to say I’ve tried a lot of different products to find the very best. This one doesn’t leave your face ghostly white and creates a satin finish that sits perfectly under makeup. I have combination skin and use it in place of a moisturiser in the morning, which has eliminated any breakouts.

You can find it in Sephoras across Australia, or on Adore Beauty and the Ultra Violette website! I’d recommend it to anyone with normal to combination or dehydrated skin who’s looking for a new holy grail sunscreen.
Product two: Glossier Ultralip in Pony

How did you first discover this product?
Before Glossier shipped to Australia, I asked a friend to stock up on products for me while they were in London. I’d never heard anything about this lip product and threw it into the shopping list last minute, and am so glad I did.
What is it and why do you love it?
While I’ve always loved glossy lips, I struggle with lip products beyond lip liner – they feel sticky and having long hair, it constantly gets caught in them. The Ultralip quite literally feels like a lip balm and has the perfect amount of buildable colour to get you from day to night. Pony is my dream everyday rosy nude, but they have 11 shades to choose from for every look and skin tone. It’s also a less expensive version of the Hourglass Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm, another product I love (but I despise the price tag).

Product three: Mecca Cosmetica Mecca-morphosis Purifying Cleansing Balm

How did you first discover this product?
This is another product that I picked up from PR we received at the office. Sorry, it’s repetitive, but it’s a big perk of the job!
What is it and why do you love it?
I only ever wear waterproof mascara, so when I use a makeup remover, I’m seriously testing that it actually gets product off without pulling and tugging at the skin. This cleansing balm is gentle and easy to use, takes off all traces of tough-to-remove makeup and doesn’t leave the skin feeling stripped or with an oily residue. I use it as the first of two cleansers as my first step in my nighttime skincare routine.

You can find the cleansing balm exclusively at Mecca. It’s the product that I put friends and family on, and I would highly recommend it to anyone else who wears makeup or SPF or wants to add a first cleanser to their routine.
