What to know about Shark Beauty’s $699 CryoGlow LED face mask
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SHARK BEAUTY

Get your (Cryo) glow on.
As a fashion and beauty editor, I see a lot of trends come through my inbox and social media feed every day. Some warrant writing about, like when everyone started sleeping with raw onions, or more recently, injecting themselves with unregulated peptides.
One bandwagon I have happily jumped on, however, is LED masks. Rather than an overnight fad, LED masks have been gradually building momentum over the past few years. Personally, I gravitate towards a less-is-more approach to skincare, so the idea of investing in one hero item has always appealed to me.
We like nosy people. Don’t be shy, head to our Beauty section for more.
Dermatologists, facialists and skin therapists alike have long sung the praises of investing in a quality LED mask, with the only catch being that you use it regularly. Rather than a sporadic indulgence, it’s a consistent, long-term relationship.
While it depends on the specific product, the key benefits of LED masks lie in how they use infrared light to stimulate collagen production and reduce fine lines, and target acne-causing bacteria.
Thanks to the boom in at-home skin tech, there are now many options out there. But one mask I’ve had my eye on is the Shark Beauty CryoGlow™ Under-Eye Cooling + LED Face Mask. Since it first came out in the US in early 2025, everyone from Sofia Richie Grainge to Alix Earle has been talking about it. Finally, it has landed in Australia and New Zealand, ready for skincare devotees to try it for themselves.

What is the Shark CryoGlow™ Under-Eye Cooling + LED Face Mask?
A new arrival on the beauty tech scene, Shark Beauty has taken extra care to make sure this mask ticks all the usual boxes, and then some. It uses a tri-wick LED technology which produces light at various wavelengths (blue is approx 415nm, red is 630nm and infrared is 830nm) to penetrate deep into the skin’s dermis layer.
In great news for those who struggle with puffiness, it’s also the only LED mask with built-in cooling pads that help to tighten and refresh the under-eye area (this is the ‘Cryo’ part). This setting will automatically switch on when you select a treatment, allowing you to choose between three levels, ranging from mild to icy. Alternatively, you can opt for the Under-Eye Revive treatment for a solo eye session.
In addition, the mask offers two treatment options developed in collaboration with dermatologists: Better Ageing and Skin Clearing.
Lasting six minutes, the Better Ageing treatment combines IQLED technology and infrared LED light to target the skin’s dermis layer, which in turn can help stimulate collagen and reduce fine lines. The Skin Clearing treatment, on the other hand, uses blue, red and infrared light to target acne-causing bacteria and help achieve a more even complexion in just eight minutes per session.
Once you’ve completed either treatment (as in, you’ve diligently worn the mask every day for at least eight weeks), you can switch to the fourth option, the Skin Sustain treatment, to maintain radiance with daily four-minute sessions.
What’s included?
When unboxing, you’ll find the CyroGlow LED Mask, Clip-On Chill Pads (these are an add-on, in case the in-built ones don’t reach your eyes), a remote, a wall charger, all the necessary cords and a storage bag to keep it all contained when not in use.

How to use the Shark CryoGlow™ Under-Eye Cooling + LED Face Mask
When you’re ready, you’ll need to charge the mask up to full battery, which will take around three hours. From there, power it on and follow the on-screen instructions on the remote. If you’re one to get overwhelmed by new tech, don’t stress too much. These steps take you through only the essentials, so you feel confident before using it.
Then you can fasten it to your face, adjusting the head straps to make sure it’s nice and secure. Once you choose your treatment, it’ll power on, and you’re good to go – just make sure your skin is washed, cleansed and free of any product.
You can see through it fairly easily, and the remote even has a small clip so you can fasten it to your pants and move about the house freely. Or, if you’re inclined, it’s the perfect excuse to try sitting still and popping on a guided meditation.

What it really feels like
I’ve used a few LED masks in my time, so I went into this expecting the usual: that your peripheral vision would likely be obstructed and bright LED lights would cast onto your skin. If you’ve never tried one before, I can assure you it doesn’t hurt in any way. It’s easy to program, comfortable to wear, and the sessions are nice and quick.
It’s entirely up to you whether you wear it in the morning or at night – just warn any housemates before trying. It definitely gives a Stormtrooper energy when the lights are on and your room is dark, so you can run the risk of giving those unsuspecting a bit of a scare.
