WORDS BY CAIT EMMA BURKE
“I had to include it because if I had to choose a scent that I could wear every day for the rest of my life, it would be this one.”
I’m a notoriously nosy person when it comes to products. I want to know whether you double cleanse at night, and if so which cleansers you use. I want to know if there’s some special hair contraption or pair of tweezers that have (hyperbole warranted) changed your life. I want to know what curl definer you use and which lip balm you swear by.
But my interest in products doesn’t just pertain to the world of beauty – I’m always eager to hear about an air fryer that someone loves so much they’ve convinced their entire extended family to get one, or a laptop stand that’s corrected their posture and improved their quality of life by at least 25 per cent.
Want to snoop inside the beauty regimes of other creatives? Head here.
In short, I adore products. This is why I’ve asked some of our favourite Australian creatives for their top three products, AKA the products they simply cannot live without. The scope is broad – it can genuinely be any three products, as long as they’re the three they value the most.
Joining us this week is Sage Mellet, a Melbourne-based content creator and musician, and the Community and Partnerships Manager at Conserving Beauty. If, like me, you want to know what she has on rotation (and how she has such a glowy complexion) you’ll be pleased to know I’ve asked her for her top three favourite beauty products of all time.
Product one: Mecca Max Pout Pencil in Classy

How did you first discover this product?
Two years ago, I thought wearing lipliner was only a night-out occasion. Then someone (can’t remember who sorry) gave me Mecca Max’s Pout Pencil in the shade Classy to try, and the colour matched my lip colour perfectly. Since then, I have used this product multiple times a day.
What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?
The reason I love this specific pencil is because it’s my perfect shade – it’s buttery and affordable.
Where would you find it and who would you recommend it to?
You can find it at all Mecca and Mecca Max stores across Australia! I’d recommend it to any person who wants to bring a little bit of colour to their lips without it looking unnatural.
Product two: Conserving Beauty’s Conserve You Face Oil

How did you first discover this product?
I discovered this product when I started working for Conserving Beauty one and a half years ago. It’s safe to say that I have used this product two times a day, every day since.
What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?
This oil is a lightweight, non-greasy face oil. I put it on in the morning underneath my makeup, for extra nourishment. It adds the most perfect glowing complexion to your makeup look. I then use it after cleansing at night with my gua sha. I love this product so much that when I make content for Consering Beauty I often have to remind myself to talk about our other (amazing) products, because of how much attention I give this face oil.
Where would you find it and who would you recommend it to?
You can this face oil on conservingbeauty.com, at select Mecca stores across Australia, as well as SpaceNK and Cult Beauty in the UK. This oil is suitable for all skin types, so if you’re looking for the perfect glow, then this product is for you!
Product three: Le Labo Thé Noir 29

How did you first discover this product?
My brother was gifted this scent. One night I forgot my perfume and so he gave me some of his. I fell in love immediately and classified it as my forever scent.
What is it, what does it do and why do you love it?
Thé Noir 29 is an iconic Le Labo scent. Although this is a very unrealistic desert island product (it’s very expensive), I had to include it because if I had to choose a scent that I could wear every day for the rest of my life, it would be this one. It’s the perfect mix of woody, musky and fresh, its cross-seasonal and it makes me very, very happy.
Where would you find it and who would you recommend it to?
You can find this at any Le Labo store or at Mecca in Australia. I’d recommend it to any person who wants to be complimented on their scent, however, you should be warned that this product will not make your wallet very happy.
