Role Description
Black Finch Jewellery is an independent Melbourne brand designing and handcrafting contemporary fine jewellery from our Collingwood flagship store and workshop. Our work celebrates rare gemstones, recycled metals and artistic design, each piece made with care by our in-house team.
We are seeking an experienced Lead Custom Jewellery Designer and Sales Consultant to guide clients through the exciting journey of designing their jewellery. This role sits within our sales, front-of-house team and is perfect for someone who thrives in a personalised, design-led retail environment.
You will lead intimate, by-appointment consultations with clients designing engagement rings and bespoke pieces. Through thoughtful conversation and creative exploration, you will help translate personal stories into meaningful jewellery.
Working closely with our production, marketing and workshop teams, you will guide clients through the full process; from concept and stone selection through to final piece.

Key Responsibilities
- Host personalised jewellery consultations with clients in store.
- Guide clients through the custom design process including gemstone selection and design development.
- Build strong client relationships and manage projects from initial consultation through to completion.
- Work closely with our various teams to bring bespoke pieces to life.
- Maintain exceptional showroom presentation and client experience standards.
- Respond to client enquiries via email, phone and in-store.
- Maintain operational standards, oversee quoting, and ensure smooth workflow through internal systems.
YOU WILL LIKELY HAVE
- A natural communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Previous experience in fine jewellery sales or bespoke jewellery design.
- Experience in achieving monthly sales targets and KPI’s.
- Ability to create exceptional in-store displays and maintain high presentation standards;
- A strong understanding of gemstones, diamonds and precious metals.
- Experience working in luxury retail or high-value client environments.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A calm, thoughtful approach when working with clients on important milestones.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a small creative team.
- Jewellery qualifications or gemmology training are highly regarded.
