| work type: | Full-time |
| level: | Mid-level |
Role Description
Founded by Shona Joy Thatcher in 2000, the Shona Joy brand is powered by a passionate close-knit team, grounded by a mutual love of designing for real women, creating dresses for celebrating life in and building a business we can all be proud of.
Our collections embody a neutral colour palette and natural fabrications that signify a clear Australian identity – always with a hint of our signature 70s bohemian glamour. In remaining true to the Shona Joy aesthetic, our collections don’t generally follow the trends of the season. We don’t believe in disposable fashion, with a mission to design the pieces that will be treasured as part of your wardrobe forever – striving to create pieces that transcend any season, occasion, day or evening and look just as glamorous in heels or bare feet.
Blending conceptual brand design and hands-on creative ideation, this position will play a pivotal role in shaping and expressing the Shona Joy visual identity across all brand and marketing touch-points. Supporting the Brand Director in delivering innovative, elevated storytelling that reflects the distinctive aesthetic of Shona Joy.
You’ll lead the translation of brand strategy into compelling visual storytelling – guiding creative ideation, campaign execution and content creation while mentoring the Graphics Assistant in day-to-day production.

- Lead the creative development of brand content across organic and paid channels – from concept to final delivery.
- Support on-set and behind-the-scenes content creation, assisting the Brand Director in art direction, UGC capture and BTS documentation.
- Translate brand and trade objections into high-quality creative concepts that push the boundaries of brand storytelling.
- Stay ahead of design, culture and digital trends to ensure Shona Joy remains visually innovative and relevant.
- Oversee design and development of key brand assets – including campaign visuals, digital marketing materials, packaging, lookbooks and branded collateral.
- Create layouts and assets for website launches, landing pages and editorial content in alignment with seasonal narratives.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams (Digital, Trade, Wholesale and Brand) to ensure all outputs are cohesive, on-brand and premium in execution.
- Guide and mentor the Graphics Assistant in producing digital and print assets, ensuring brand consistency and executional excellence.
- Conduct editing, retouching and colour correction as needed, maintaining the highest visual standards.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Shona Joy visual identity, ensuring it remains aspirational, consistent and future-focused.
- Explore new creative formats, content types, and mediums that deepen brand storytelling and engagement.
- Continuously refine creative processes and workflows for efficiency and quality.
KEY SKILLS
- 3-4+ years experience in a design role within fashion, lifestyle or creative agency environment.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating a refined taste, strong conceptual thinking and brand storytelling.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Communication or related field.
- A high level of motivation, organisation and attention to detail, with a meticulous eye for composition, colour and visual nuance.
- An innovative skillset able to translate ideas and seasonal concepts into cohesive, elevated visual narratives across campaign, digital and print.
