Role Description
The Marketing Executive plays a key role in delivering the Festival’s digital presence, with a strong focus on managing the Festival website and executing EDM campaigns. This role supports the creation, maintenance and optimisation of these online customer touchpoints that showcase the Festival programme and drive engagement, ticket sales and stakeholder participation.
Working as part of the Customer + Marketing team, the Marketing Executive will coordinate timelines, content requirements and approval workflows for all web and email activity, ensuring information is accurate, up to date, accessible and on brand.
This is a hands-on role that leverages your organisational precision, digital capability, and creative instincts to strengthen the Festival’s online ecosystem in collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers.
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
- 3+ years previous marketing experience: including experience with major public events, fashion and consumer brands and media / editorial publications.
- Tertiary marketing course equivalent: including marketing, communications, public relations and / or journalism.
- Technical skills: experienced in SquareSpace, Mailchimp, Canva, and proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly PowerPoint and creation of presentations); Adobe Creative Suite; Social Media Platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok); and Monday.com work management platform.
- Communication skills: excellent ability to communicate effectively and confidently with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority, verbally and in writing.
- Time management and planning: highly organised and logical, and can effectively plan complex project delivery, meet tight deadlines and adhere to processes.
- Reliable and trustworthy: able to perform duties with honesty, integrity and maturity, and is comfortable handing confidential information and working with high profile talent and stakeholders.
- Flexible and resilient: able to juggle competing demands and remain buoyant and productive in high workload periods relevant to the delivery of a Victorian Major Event.
Key Responsibilities
WEBSITE MANAGEMENT
- Lead day-to-day management of the Festival’s Squarespace website, including page updates, event listings, content uploads, imagery, video assets and SEO-friendly copywriting.
- Coordinate the annual Festival programme build on the website, managing timelines, assets and cross-department requirements.
- Liaise with the Ticketing Manager to compile and manage Festival programme content for ticketing platform builds (Ticketmaster + Megatix).
- Work closely with the Head of Creative + Content to maintain and update website design and content, ensuring consistency with Festival brand guidelines.
- Liaise with digital agencies and/or developers to brief updates, resolve issues, implement UX improvements and ensure optimal site performance.
- Maintain strict quality control to ensure accuracy, functionality, accessibility, brand consistency and timely publishing of all information.
- Monitor website analytics to identify opportunities for optimisation and report on user behaviour as part of campaign reviews.
EDM MANAGEMENT
- Own the creation, scheduling and deployment of EDMs via Mailchimp across all Festival audience segments – consumers, industry, designers, partners and VIPs.
- Build, test and send EDMs using the Festival’s preferred email marketing platform, ensuring strong design and copy, correct segmentation and best-practice delivery.
- Work closely with the Head of Creative + Content to maintain and update EDM design and content, ensuring consistency with Festival brand guidelines.
- Coordinate content requirements across the business to deliver timely, tactical, accurate and engaging emails and announcements.
- Analyse EDM performance metrics and provide insights to inform content strategy, customer journeys and future improvements.
- Maintain and update subscriber lists, audience tagging and compliance with relevant data and privacy guidelines.
GENERAL MARKETING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the Customer + Marketing strategy, especially digital content planning, messaging frameworks and campaign ideation.
- Day-to-day management and delivery of communications plans and contracted marketing benefits for Festival’s commercial partners.
- Produce project documentation including timelines, creative briefs, schedules, and reporting templates.
- Support the delivery of Festival marketing campaigns across wider advertising, PR, social and digital channels.
- Support the liaison with agencies, photographers, videographers, designers, media partners and influencers.
- Build and maintain strong industry relationships to elevate the Festival’s visibility and impact.
- Represent the Festival at industry and programme events as required.
- Assist with marketing team operations including scheduling, admin, and file management.
- Monitor and collate campaign outcomes for post-event reporting.
- Support customer service, ticketing communications, and on-site operational tasks during the Festival period.
- Perform other duties consistent with the scope of the role.
