Role Description
Join the creative team at NEUW Denim, an independent modern denim brand born from a passion for originality and quality. Founded by friends from Melbourne and Stockholm, NEUW blends vintage denim culture, Nordic design and a relaxed Aussie attitude to craft jeans that evolve with you. Our purpose is to empower our community of creatives — the explorers, music-lovers, thinkers and makers — by designing denim that supports their vision, expresses their individuality and boosts their confidence.
THE ROLE
We are seeking a proactive and highly skilled Product Developer to join our women’s product development team, helping bring our women’s apparel and denim collections to life across global markets. You will be responsible for ensuring garments are produced accurately to brief, to the highest quality standards, and within timing expectations. Working directly with the Head of Women’s Design, you will contribute significantly to the development process, build strong relationships with factories, and oversee the execution from prototype through to final production.
Key Responsibilities
DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT EXECUTION
- Support designers in developing seasonal specs and tech packs for women’s denim and apparel.
- Manage prototypes and samples: Measure, organise fit models, coordinate pre-fit session notes.
- Execute Fit Sessions: Plan and run fit sessions with designers for all women’s wholesale ranges and pre-production samples.
- Factory Communication: Provide comprehensive fit comments, send detailed production approval feedback to factories. Maintain strong, respectful daily communication with makers to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality prototypes and GMS samples.
- Quality Control: Oversee quality for garments, trims, and packaging of the women’s styles.
PRODUCTION AND TIMELINE MANAGEMENT
- Critical Path Management: Work with suppliers to keep the critical pathway on track and ensure deadlines are met.
- Handover to Production: Once the range is finalised and prototypes approved, ensure accurate handover to the Production team to deliver salesman samples on time.
- Administration: Manage range release administration and preparation (e.g., PLM data, seasonal line sheets for marketing), and provide brand & department administrative support as required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience in product development of denim and other apparel, ideally with women’s wear focus.
- Experience liaising with overseas suppliers/manufacturers is essential.
- Strong understanding of the full production process including pre-production.
- Good knowledge of textiles/fabrics and garment construction.
- Experience with fit-testing and pattern making knowledge across multiple fashion categories.
- Ability to negotiate costs with suppliers.
- Proficiency in Excel and Illustrator (or other relevant tech pack/design tools).
- Highly organised, excellent attention to detail, strong time-management skills to always meet deadlines.
