Role Description
Reporting to the Design Manager, this role leads the end-to-end creation of print and textile artwork, from receipt of brief through to final production supporting the delivery of Spell’s seasonal collections while ensuring timelines, quality and sustainability standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead print and textile design from brief through to final execution and production
- Manage critical path dates and ensure all design milestones and approvals are met
- Create original artwork across prints, embroideries, laces, jacquards, handlooms, hardware and knitwear
- Review and provide timely feedback on strike-offs and sampling (within required timeframes)
- Collaborate closely with Product and Technical teams to ensure artwork meets placement, engineering and consumption requirements
- Create accurate and complete artwork specifications for suppliers
- Track artwork development from sampling through to bulk production, ensuring consistency and quality
- Research trends and vintage references and translate these into considered artwork and colour palettes aligned to seasonal direction
- Assist with sourcing new trims, materials and techniques
- Maintain and organise Spell’s digital textile archive and current textile library
- Manage external textile artists and provide clear feedback aligned to timelines and expectations
- Contribute to sustainability targets in line with Spell’s Sustainability Roadmap
KEY SKILLS
- Degree in Fashion or Textile Design (print-focused)
- Experience in Print and/or Textile Design
- Advanced skills in Illustrator and Photoshop (Acrobat essential)
- Strong understanding of fabrications, garment printing methods and textile processes
- Exceptional attention to detail, organisation and time management skills
- Confident working to briefs, deadlines and cross-functional requirements
- Collaborative, proactive and solution-focused
- Understanding of the Spell aesthetic
- Hand-drawing skills
- Knowledge of sustainable fabrics and print techniques
