Asics and Above The Clouds introduce a collaborative take on the Gel-1090

The sneakers you played netball in back in 2008, but make it fashion.

Sydney-based retailer Above The Clouds is turning 10, and to celebrate it has teamed up with Asics to produce a collaborative sneaker – a revamp of the Asics Gel-1090. 

First relaunched in 2019, the Gel-1090 model was originally designed with running in mind and became known for its supportive silhouette.

The Above The Clouds take on the sneaker is more luxe, with a clean white synthetic outer and webbed beige suede detailing. Asics’s brand philosophy, ‘Sound Body, Sound Mind’, is still front and centre, with ‘Mind’ and ‘Body’ embroidered in electric blue on the shoe’s tongues. 

Custom touches include tiger stripe detailing which wraps around the midsole and toes, finishing above the ankles where ‘Above The Clouds’ is stamped, gel inserts and a transparent Asics stripe.  

The Asics Gel-1090 x Above The Clouds model will launch exclusively at Above The Clouds on Saturday March 28 2020. It will also be available on Saturday April 4 at select retailers around the world including End, Kith, Dover Street Market and SNS.
