A peek at Albus Lumen’s Resort 2020 showcase

The Sydney label hits Paris.

Homegrown label Albus Lumen took its signature restrained luxury to Paris last week, for a showing of its Resort 2020 collection to coincide with Paris Fashion Week.

The range is undoubtedly something to write home about, but the photos of the showing (shot on iPhone, no less) are what have the Fashion Journal office talking. A leap above traditional formats, the Albus Lumen presentation looks like something out of a classic Parisian love story.

It’s hard to say we’re surprised, however. The label has a stellar track record of late, with its Sydney MBFWA runway giving us Sicilian holiday vibes.

Led by Creative Director Maria Afonina, the collection, titled OCTO, is inspired by the countryside of Peru. Masculine silhouettes play against voluminous proportions and fluid lines in a palette of dusty pinks, sky blues, pistachios and warm yellows.

Afonina also explores texture for the series, including pops of terry towelling alongside Australian Merino wool.  The label was a finalist for the International Woolmark Prize for 2019, so the fibre is a fitting inclusion.
