Converse goes Frankenstein and mashes up old classics in new ‘Twisted’ collection

Words by Maeve Kerr-Crowley

Twisted sister.

When you think of sneaker classics, Converse Chuck Taylors are likely to come to mind.

For its latest release, Converse is getting playful with the idea of classics by creating mash-ups of its most iconic styles.

Whether it’s an unlikely musical collaboration or a TV crossover, we’re suckers for a good mash-up as a way to keep things fresh and exciting.

Converse’s Frankenstein-esque collection heroes the Run Star Hike silhouette – introduced through the brand’s ongoing collaboration with JW Anderson. The style features a high-top canvas upper, thick midsole and an exaggerated rubber traction tread.

A newer style, the Converse CPX70, takes features from the ’80s ERX, One Star and Pro Leather silhouettes.

For something a little subtler, you’ll also find a series of Chuck Taylor designs featuring playfully combines archive prints, block colours, logo graphics and patches.

The Twisted collection is available in store and online now.
