NYFW: Alexander Wang Fall 2015
Femme-luxe Edward Scissorhands and a must-have stern pout: gothic never looked so good.
Think femme-luxe Edward Scissorhands for Alexander Wang’s 2015 fall NYFW runway collection and you’re practically there.
Buttery-soft leathers, supple velvets and a whole heap of metal detailing left this all black collection as fierce looking and totally loveable as Tim Burton’s sharp-fingered friend.
Gothic flatforms and a mix of textures lent this look with some serious drama, made all the more powerful by an apparently requisite stern pout. But the ultimately severe styles avoided being clunky with Wang’s clever use of size; doona-sized coats were teamed with cropped pants, extra long sleeves and tiny handbags. Unexpected proportions and a multitude of textures and silhouettes keep this all-black look far from ordinary winterwear.
