Leomie Anderson shared a ‘Black Model Survival Kit’ because for some reason it’s still necessary

Calling out industry professionals unprepared to work with black models.

A Black Model Survival Kit shouldn’t have to exist in today’s fashion industry, but it does.

Model Leomie Anderson has released a video calling out hair and make-up artists who are unprepared to work with black models backstage.

In the video, Leomie shares her personal experiences of make-up artists who aren’t used to black skin, hairdressers who can’t work with her hair and ‘nude’ underwear that isn’t her skin tone.

Her survival kit features BYO concealer palettes, hairspray and nude underwear that actually matches darker skin.

“Being a black model is extra hard, there’s extra work, there’s extra things involved,” she says in the clip.

“It will just save you a lot of stress if you already come prepared.”
