Nike is releasing a remake of Tinker Hatfield’s original Air Max design

In celebration of Air Max Day.

2014’s inaugural Air Max Day saw Nike fans all over the globe parading their favourite Air Max pairs.

This year, March 26 will not only mark the third annual Air Max Day, but will celebrate the iconic shoe’s 30th anniversary.

To commemorate the day, Nike will release a recrafted Air Max 1 to pay homage to the original 1987 Hatfield design.

The Anniversary Pack will see two red and blue colourways of the original form, with the Sport Red dropping on March 5 and the Sport Royal on March 12.

Referencing the 2004 Urawa Air Max 1 for the meticulous revamp, Nike’s new release takes on its shape, silhouette and stance for the perfect throwback design.

From its heel bump to mesh detailing to its three-piece tongue and flat laces, the Air Max 1 recraft features fine details that have not been seen since its first 1987 release.
