The FJ guide to FREE events at MSFW

We got you.

It’s nearly that time of year again. When Melbourne Spring Fashion Week brings in the sweet taste of warm weather and the promise of more innovative style and creativity for the future. It’s almost as if the fashion world is softly whispering, “we know winter’s been tough, but it’s all going to be okay.”

This year’s program is jam-packed with events, including a whole lot of free goodness happening around the city. Because everyone loves a freebie, we present FJ’s Guide to free events for MSFW 2015.

MSFW: Shop The City

Kicking off festivities tomorrow is MSFW: Shop the City as part of Vogue Fashion’s Night Out. It’s the first year the global event will feature in Melbourne and the city-wide shopping night sure to remind all in attendance of Melbourne’s status as a leading fashion destination in Australia. With special offers and shopping incentives running through the night, the event will give shoppers the chance to rejuvenate their wardrobe with new additions from all the latest Spring/Summer collections.

Little Bourke Street Runway

That very same night, Little Bourke Street is set to transform into a runway, fitted with lush foliage and vibrant colour arrangements. The free runway event will feature looks from a selection of designers from Emporium Melbourne. Which is pretty great, because straight after the show you’ll be able to head into Emporium and spend up big.

Creative Collective

Throughout the week, 1000 Pound Bend will play host to Creative Collective, an exhibition showcasing a bunch of Melbourne’s coolest, creative and most innovative designers. The line-up will include the likes of Pageant, Limedrop, AM.Xander, Alexi Freeman, Mimi Zikki, Tiffany Treloar, Cashmerism, Matcho Suba, S!X, Lorena Laing, Oscar Calvo, Accordion Pli, Vincent Li, Jason Hewitt, O.T.T by Lia T, Lord Coconut, Julia De Ville, Habbot, Wootten, Melanie Bower and Jill and Jack Millinery. To see a little more of what’s in store, check out our latest FJ Shoot: Take me to Church.

This is for all you fash-hungry honeys who are looking to launch into the industry. The MSFW program includes a range of industry seminars to help train you up for the big bad world of fashion. Parading their Spring/Summer 15/16 collection, Muji will stay true to its mantra, with simplicity and versatility as the focus for the show. Adhering to their signature neutral palettes and natural materials, Muji does minimal looks for both men and women better than anyone.

OnceWas Runway

The clean styles of Melbourne label OnceWas will be lining the runway on September 4 from 5pm and 6pm. Celebrating delicate femininity and the essence of spring, OnceWas will showcase their two new collections Linear and Coast.

Crikey! Pop-Up Shop

On its final day (that’s September 4, people) MSFW will move over to The Carlton, where Crikey! will present a limted edition collection from design collab O.T.T by Lia. T and Kate Geck.
