As Australian designers continue to spread their wings, quickly dominating international markets, it’s proof that Australia is teeming with emerging young talent.

Eager to showcase the largely undiscovered, we’ve curated a few special labels for you to watch grow into popularity.

YEVU

Set up by Anna Robertson after a year-long aid working gig, YEVU is a socially responsible clothing label made and sourced in Ghana. The label uses traditional wax prints made from 100% cotton fabrics, that you can see worn on the streets in an array of riotous prints. The combination of the traditional with modern pattern making makes for very cool wears.

Rouda

Megan McNeill knows prints and does them well. After studying Textile Design and working for numerous companies, the designer decided to chase her dream of having her own fashion label. Now with her second collection, Fiesta, out there for all to see, Rouda is sure to be a Melbourne favourite. Opting for style over fashion driven trends, Rouda creates pieces built to stay regular in your wardrobe for a long time.

PER-TIM

The queens of leisure wear, Bernadette Francis and Laura Albee Barton created a label of loungewear with a big hit of fashion. Combining Bernadette’s well earned fashion degree and Alice Euphemia head buyer knowledge with Laura’s PR skills and Kuwaii brand manager history, PER-TIM has all the right makings for a successful team. They welcome you to Club Bed where you don’t have to even get dressed in the morning.

House of Cards

With a background in photography and graphic design, designer Ashiya Omundsen creates a label that is an ode to our generation. Brisbane based House of Cards is heavy on tech references and cult-favourite silhouettes.

Versatile and not too dear makes for a young lady’s best friend. And boys too. Oh, and it’s not to be forgotten that the label does not shy away from bold colours, prints and silhouettes.

PAI

Founded by Angie Pai & Adrian Bressanutti, PAI has already been clad by cool kids Banoffee and Oscar Key Sung, so that’s just a sign of their coolness factor to come. Embellishing tees and jumpers with abstract faces, PAI’s wears are distinctive but very wearable. We’re looking forward to what’s to come from these pieces of PAI.
