This year’s International Woolmark Prize winners have been announced

Up-and-coming.

The International Woolmark Prize is one of the most prestigious design awards for up-and-coming designers.

It celebrates the beauty of Australian merino wool, awarding designers for their use of the fabric. Previous winners include Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent.

And now, the 2017/2018 International Woolmark prize winners for Australia/New Zealand have been announced.

A big congratulations goes to the designers of BLAIRARCHIBALD and Harman Grubiša who have received $70,000 to go toward the expansion of each brand.

The winners also have the chance to win an additional $200,000 at a global competition next year.

Both labels put forth designs that reflected their ethos. BLAIRARCHIBALD’s use of recycled wool is a testament to its preference for sustainable practices. Harman Grubiša prioritises lush fabrications and classic silhouettes that are enhanced with a unique twist.

The winners have also won mentoring support from a global panel of experts, as well as a Woolmark licence.

Not a bad head start in the industry.
