Here’s how you can watch this year’s Met Gala red carpet in Australia

Catch the camp.

The first Monday in May is almost here, and we’re gearing up for our annual Met Gala fix.

Every year, celebrities flock to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to check out the Costume Institute’s latest exhibition and wow their peers with an amazing themed costume.

Unfortunately, as non-famous folk without $30,000 to spare for a ticket, we may never know what goes on during the celeb-filled formal dinner. But we can drool over everyone’s looks on the red carpet, which is the most exciting part of the event anyway.

This year, the theme is ‘Camp: Notes on Fashion’ – directly inspired by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay, Notes on Camp. Camp is all about extravagance and artifice with a touch of the ridiculous, and that’s exactly what you can expect at this year’s celebrations.

Luckily, there are a couple of places to get your fix. E! News will be covering the pre-dinner activities, as will Vogue US in the form of a Facebook livestream.

The Gala will be held on May 6, which means any Aussies wanting to watch along will have to tune in on the morning of Tuesday, May 7.

If you love fashion, art and judging celebrities for their choices, we highly recommend pencilling in some at-home carpet-stalking.
