Mother’s Day is quickly approaching (May 10, in case you’re wondering) and while a champagne breakfast always goes down a treat, gifting your mum – or mother figure – something extra special speaks volumes.

Oriental lilies are my mum’s favourite flowers. Growing up, my siblings and I would always take turns delivering her a bunch every Mother’s Day, along with breakfast in bed. Since we don’t live in the same country, I’m sending her the candle version. Lys by Diptyque smells exactly like a juicy bouquet of fresh-cut lilies and lasts a lot longer, so whenever she lights it she’ll think of me. While I’m at Mecca, I’ll be picking up Diptyque’s new Rhubarbe candle for myself!

This gift won’t come as a surprise to her at all. I’ve given her this mask several times already over various birthdays, Christmases and Mother’s Days – basically whenever she runs out. I got it by chance one year as I knew she loved Aesop and it has become a tradition at this point. It smells divine and feels so gentle on your skin.

My mum loves an accessory with a twist, something that adds a bit of oomph to her work outfits. I’ve been eyeing the Gaze belt in Black Rock from Melbourne label Simétrie.
