Iconic Japanese footwear brand Onitsuka Tiger is delving into its archives for a winter-ready range of boot-sneaker hybrids

There’s no denying the recent resurgence of Onitsuka Tiger. For the unaware, Onitsuka is the Japanese clothing and footwear label behind the viral Mexico 66 sneaker, popularised by the likes of Bella Hadid, Kaia Gerber and a samurai sword-wielding Uma Thurman back in 2002. Stylish but never short-lived, Onitsuka designs sit at the intersection of sportswear and contemporary fashion.

In the last five years particularly, iconic brands like Onitsuka (which was founded in 1949) have tended to look backwards rather than forwards when creating new pieces. Archival pieces inspire its recent collection of cold weather-ready boots; updating classic silhouettes with modern details like chunky platform soles, high-tech fabrications and glossy finishes.
