Style swap: Can a couple successfully style each other for a week?
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ASICS

What happens when two fashion heads swap wardrobes.
If you’ve scrolled through TikTok this year, you’ve probably caught a glimpse of the effortlessly sharp style of Paris Wycherley – likely layering a slouchy trench over trackpants and somehow making it look entirely chic. And if Paris has floated across your For You Page, Toby Wright probably isn’t far behind, steadily curating the kind of wardrobe you’ll soon see all over Melbourne.

Together, they’re the city’s best-dressed venn diagram: Paris, a stylist and creative director with a self-dubbed “tomboy-femme” aesthetic, and Toby, the founder of clothing label Monphell, who proves that structure, slouch and comfort can happily co-exist by way of oversized silhouettes, sharp shoulders and the occasional standout sneaker.
So, naturally, we thought, ‘What happens if they swap wardrobes?’. Challenging them to style each other through the rhythm of a week, integrating the ASICS Gel-Cumulus 16s, the result was a surprisingly impressive style manual for looking put-together without seeming like you tried. Here’s what they came up with.
A day at work
For Paris, workwear is less about formality and more an extension of her style philosophy. Her day has to stretch from meetings to fittings to a cheeky wine at six, which means sneakers are a non-negotiable. “Most of the time I’m in sneakers no matter the event,” she shrugs. And honestly, who’s going to argue with that logic?
For her workday look, Toby went straight to tailoring. “We both wanted to wear suits for one of our looks, as a suit is usually in each of our weekly rotations,” he explains. His edit: a matching set with an elastic waistband (because comfort deserves a seat at the table), finished with a pop of colour beneath the collar and some ASICS Gel-Cumulus 16s.
The addition of the shoe is a small rebellion, but a smart one. It knocks the edge off the suit’s precision, transforming it from office armour into something more aligned to Paris’s distinct style. It’s a styling trick both of them return to.
Paris’s mantra when it comes to fashion is contrasts. “I think the best way to describe myself is tomboy-femme, never swaying too much either way,” she says. So for Toby’s workday look, she went high-low. “Comfy on the bottom, business up top,” she explains, having layered a structured coat over slouchy sweatpants, and ASICS Gel-Cumulus 16s to make sure things landed firmly in the lived-in, rather than the boardroom, category.
Running errands
For errands, Paris leaned into minimalism. A monochrome palette kept Toby’s look sharp and intentional, while the ASICS Gel-Cumulus 16s allowed him to move from studio to supermarket without a second thought.
Toby’s errands outfit for Paris, however, was a little bolder. “Styling the tailored trench coat as a dress was an easy look as it was one hero piece that didn’t need much else,” he says. It’s the kind of outfit that works for a coffee run on Smith Street just as easily as it does for ducking into a new store opening.
Event-ready
Planning a night-out look is where the duo really flexed their style muscles. As Toby puts it, “It was super easy to style each other as we have one brain when it comes to [dressing].”
“We both love a suit or any matching set, so the event look was an easy pick,” Paris adds. For Toby, she cracked the formula with a crisp white tee under a slouchy pinstripe blazer and Gel-Cumulus™ 16s on the bottom. It’s the kind of tailoring you can actually dance in (or leg it for the tram if the night runs long).
Toby’s approach, naturally, was all about texture and proportion. “Taking so much care and consideration into the fabrics used for Monphell has definitely shaped my personal style,” he says. “For my style now, fabric and composition is everything.” It explains the playful mix he built for Paris’ look: a tartan skirt layered over pants with a matching jacket, tying it together with a signature logo cap and ASICS sneakers.
“I really wanted a look that showed off layering, as Paris loves to layer items you wouldn’t usually pair together.” It’s clashy, playful, and a little unexpected – which is exactly the point.
