Try something new.
Welcome to the golden era of the sneaker.
Sporty, retro kicks aren’t confined to the gym or court, and wearing them out and about is the new norm. But, if you’re yet to delve into the world of street-ready sneakers, pulling the look off can be a mystery.
Here are four ways we like to style PUMA’s take on the trend with the brand’s super ’90s CELL Alien and CELL Stellar.
Look one
Try: Colour blocking
While we can get behind a plain white dad sneaker for versatility’s sake, it’s time we all set aside our fear of colour. Kicks like PUMA’s CELL Alien are ideal for adding a hint of colour to a look, thanks to each shoe’s neon bubble heel. But there’s no need to stop there. Use the palette at your disposal for outfit inspiration, choosing clothing in similar shades to those in the sneaker’s detailing.
Look two
Try: A contrasting silhouette
Don’t fall into the trap of thinking sneakers have to be worn exclusively with athleisure. Playing with flow and femininity in your silhouette will help you steer clear of looking like you’re about to go for a jog. The clean, chunky lines of PUMA’s CELL Stellar contrast particularly well with a soft, textured skirt or – for a winter-appropriate look – an oversized knit.
Look three
Try: Keeping it casual
Easy, day-to-day dressing is made infinitely less stressful by a good pair of shoes. A trusty pair of runners, ready to be thrown on with even the most casual outfit (like your CELL Aliens, for example), can be unbelievably reassuring. You may now leave the house knowing you look as cool as you are comfortable.
Look four
Try: Something sporty
Sneakers and sportswear are obviously a match made in heaven, but that doesn’t mean you need to go everywhere in your yoga pants and sports bra. Pairing a more athletic looking sneaker like the CELL Alien with a simple, sport-inspired dress or co-ord will achieve the look in a street appropriate way.
