Dion Lee designs new uniforms for Sydney Opera House staff

Words by Nicole La Ruffa

Celebrating 45 years.

Staff at the Sydney Opera House are getting a uniform makeover courtesy of Dion Lee.

From mid-December, the staff will rep new uniforms from the designer’s 24-piece collection. This new navy range will be seen across 500 members in the Front of House, Tours and Welcome teams.

Drawing inspiration from the Opera House’s distinctive architecture, the collection centres around a tailored wardrobe with folded accents.

A stand-out piece is the jacket, which features a grey lapel to mirror the building’s trademark concrete interior. Pleating in the women’s dresses and skirts also pays homage to the Monumental Steps.

The collection was created ahead of the Opera House’s 45th anniversary this weekend.
