The next big thing.
The shortlist for the prestigious LVMH Young Fashion Designer Prize has been announced, paving way for 2018’s next big thing in fashion.
The prize aims to help young designers develop their creative work, awarding a grant of €300,000 to the winner, along with support from the LVMH group for a period of 12 months.
A pool of over 1300 applications from over 90 countries has been shortlisted to a group of 20, personally chosen by the LVMH Committee. This year’s finalists give a nod to the rise of gender-neutral fashion, with the shortlist including eight womenswear designers, four menswear, six gender-neural and two designers that create both women’s and men’s collections.
2018 sees the return of some finalists from previous years, including Charles Jeffrey Loverboy by Charles Jeffrey (London), GmBh by Serhat Isik and Benjamin Alexander Huseby (Berlin) and Faustine Steinmetz (London).
It’s now up to these young creatives to present their work to a panel of international experts in early March to make the top eight. The panel includes the likes of Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Suzy Menkes, Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and more. No pressure.
The winner of the LMVH Young Fashion Designer Prize will be announced in June. Check out the full shortlist below.
