A look at the future.

The Royal Exhibition Building was packed to the brim for Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival’s Runway 3, presented by Harper’s Bazaar and supported by Priceline.

Here’s what you missed.

Kacey Devlin kicked things off with a collection we’re lusting over. Silhouettes were long and loose, featuring pleated detailing across the front of coats and skirts. Burgundy, powder blue and gold were central to the colour palette.

As per usual, Manning Cartell gave us suiting goals, sending patterned separates down the runway. Prints and colour was key, with both red and white candy stripes and the brand’s take on leopard print showcased alongside navy and red designs.

Aje’s signature voluminous sleeves were again visible in this runway collection. Necklines were plunging and dresses came with both cinched and dropped wastes. Ruffled layers and peplum skirts also made an appearance.

If you’re looking for a jumpsuit this winter, Carla Zampatti is the place to go. Playing on everyone’s current love of wearing a suit jacket as a dress, the designer presented a double-breasted long-sleeve playsuit and jumpsuit among a collection of flowing dresses in vibrant reds and black.

Pleated chiffon-style gowns were the centre of Rachel Gilbert’s designs, which seemed to change colour depending on which angle you looked. Pops of tropical green and delicately beaded pieces also appeared throughout the collection.

It’s safe to say macgraw looked to the stars for inspiration this season. Silky shirts and pants were printed with astrological patterns, jumpers and gowns came covered in silver glitter, giving a starry effect that we’ll be dreaming of for days to come.

For the final walk, models held onto spherical silver balloons tied to a string, giving the show’s conclusion an other-worldly feel.
