Vince Staples teams up with Converse and turns ‘Big Fish Theory’ into sneakers

Words by Nikki Escalante

Boy yeah right, yeah right, yeah right.

Creating a matching sneaker is one way to celebrate an album release. And if you’re Vince Staples, you team up with Converse and do just that.

In case you missed it, Staples’ album Big Fish Theory made pretty huge waves in 2017.

In a first-ever collaboration, the rapper and the brand have unveiled a capsule collection, which pays homage to Big Fish Theory.

The goldfish motif and orange colourway from the album’s artwork are splashed across two styles, giving the Chuck 70 Low and Hi-Top a bright makeover.

‘Vince Staples’ embroidery is seen on the collar, contrasting the ‘Big Fish Theory’ screen print design. The 3D-printed ‘SEA’ graphic on the heel is also a nod to Staples’ signature brand and Beats 1 podcast, ‘Section Eight Arthouse Broadcast System’.

Whether you’re a huge Vince fan, or just appreciate good art on fresh kicks, the sneakers will retail for $140, dropping January 26.

The limited collection will be exclusive to Supply Store, Up There Store and Converse online.
