“I love mixing bright colours with neutral tones, it feels fresh for spring.”
Working in a creative role, it can be difficult to know how to dress for the day. Instead of having a set uniform of crisp white shirts and tailored black pants (as much as I love both), an ever-changing schedule means every morning requires a set of questions. Am I running around, or just sitting at my desk? Do I need to dress specifically for a project? And most importantly, will I be in the background of someone’s TikTok?

This week we explore the wardrobe of graphic design and content specialist, Nicki Han. Originally from New Zealand, where she worked as an architect, Nicki is now based in Brisbane. A glimpse into Nicki’s new working week might involve anything from filming and creating social media graphics to spending time with puppies and trying her hand at axe-throwing.
Nicki is creative at heart and this bleeds into her personal style. Whether it’s for an event or a typical workday, her outfits are a way for her to experiment with shape, while adding a playful touch into her day-to-day. In her wardrobe, you’ll find a mix of local and international brands, with coveted pieces from Kowtow, Alpha60, W Concept and more.
Monday
Mondays are usually very slow. I woke up, had my usual breakfast (yoghurt, berries and granola) and filmed a quick fit check before editing some content for Designer Wardrobe (a buy-and-sell marketplace for pre-loved fashion). I recently joined the team as a content creator on a casual basis and I’ve been loving it. Going from working extreme hours in architecture to having so much more freedom, through doing freelance work, has made a big difference to my daily routine and mental well-being. I love having the freedom to do my creative work whenever I can, it makes me feel so much more productive.
Today’s look is an all-black vibe. [I’m wearing] my pleated top and jeans from Alpha60, Le Specs sunnies, Alohas shoes and my bag from W Concept. It’s my go-to combo when I want to be comfy but still look put together. Black never fails!
Tuesday
I woke up feeling very positive and energetic today. I got some admin done, replied to emails, scrolled through Pinterest for my daily inspiration and filmed some content. I had my weekly meeting after lunch with the girls at Designer Wardrobe to discuss some content ideas and strategies, then got onto some more filming and editing.
Today’s outfit features my pleated top from Uniqlo, a leather jacket and bubble hem skirt from W Concept and the most gorgeous cherry-red bag from Mimmi Terra. My sunglasses are from Status Anxiety. Every time I put on this leather jacket, I instantly feel more confident. I can finally say that I’ve found my perfect leather jacket.
Wednesday
Today was my first day at my new job at a marketing agency in Brisbane, [working] as a graphic design and content specialist. I’d been thinking about changing careers for a while and it feels so good to finally be able to do what I enjoy and what I’m passionate about! I spent most of today creating social media graphics and helping out with filming some content. I love how this role combines my creative design skills with my passion for content creation.
I’m wearing a blue and red striped shirt from the New Zealand brand Annie, paired with a white skirt from W Concept and loafers from Alohas. I love how the stripes add a playful touch to my look.
Thursday
I had an early start today, heading to Brybie Beach to shoot some content. The beach was beautiful and it made work feel extra fun. After wrapping up, of course, I had to treat myself to an ice cream and headed back to the office by noon. The rest of my day was spent working on social media graphics, which I really enjoy because there is something so satisfying about making images look pretty and aesthetic. To end the day, we had a team-building activity – axe throwing! It was my first time and it was surprisingly fun (and harder than I expected).
For today’s outfit, I chose a blue shirt from W Concept paired with brown trousers from I Love Ugly and my Alohas loafers. I love mixing bright colours with neutral tones. it feels fresh for spring.
Friday
Today was such an exciting day with a big content shoot centred around the most adorable puppies. There was a lot of energy, running around and of course, endless cuddles. I had one of those “Is this real life?” moments, feeling so grateful to be in a job that lets me experience fun moments like this. To top it all off, I ended the day with a few drinks at a rooftop bar at The Calile on James Street.
Today’s outfit is one that I always come back to. I wore a white T-shirt, my all-time favourite quilted vest from Kowtow, jeans from Alpha60 and my W Concept bag, which I accessorised with the cutest little Miffy keychain from Rhino Rhino. It was the perfect end to a fun and busy week!
