An online Frida Kahlo exhibition has arrived

Culture from the couch.

Sometimes the battle between going out to do something fun and staying home in your pyjamas is just too great.

Thankfully, everything is online these days, including entire art exhibitions.

With the help of 33 museums across seven countries, Google has pulled together a huge Frida Kahlo exhibition that’s completely online.

Called Faces of Frida, the retrospective includes the artist’s self-portraits, sketches, photographs, letters and diary entries. Hundreds of the pieces included are being digitised and exhibited for the first time.

According to Google’s Head of Hispanic Communications, Jesus Garcia, Frida’s global popularity made her an obvious choice for the online gallery. The show is intended to give viewers a deeper look at both her art and life.
