From July luggage to Crumpler carry-on bags, here are some of our favourites.
Investing in luggage is something you only see the value of the older you get. After one too many busted zips, broken wheels and handles that repeatedly jam, upgrading to a quality suitcase appears much more appealing. Case in point: I was kindly gifted a July suitcase earlier this year and was taken aback by how much it enhanced the travelling experience, both in terms of practicality and aesthetics. And while it’s not necessary, there’s something quite pleasing about having sleek luggage.

If you’re heading on a Euro trip sometime soon (lucky you, I’m not envious at all!!) or anywhere else in the world, we’ve found the best Australian and New Zealand luggage brands to take you there. Whether you’re after a roomy overnight bag, a compact carry-on with wheels or a ginormous trunk, there’s something here for every traveller.
July
July has created quite a splash in recent years and its range of colourful luggage and accessories has become a fast favourite among the fashion set. The Australian brand’s aesthetically pleasing designs and constant innovation, like its trademarked SilentMove 360 spinner wheels, make these suitcases more than worth it.
Crumpler
Crumpler is the 20-year-old brainchild of three Melbourne-based bike couriers, so it’s only natural that the brand puts the ‘fun’ in ‘function’. If you’re into bright colours, utilitarian silhouettes and funky patterns, this one’s for you. While Crumpler is known for its messenger bags, it also offers travel luggage, backpacks and luggage tags.
Nere
Australian brand Nere creates stylish and scratch-resistant luggage. Its hard shell cases have a honeycomb texture that prevents marks and dings and makes them incredibly durable. The brand releases fashion-inspired collections twice a year, so keep your eyes peeled for new designs.
Deadly Ponies
Much-loved New Zealand label Deadly Ponies has a range of travel bags ideal for your next overnight stay, business trip or weekend getaway. Made of Nappa leather, this range of high-quality bags and accessories is designed to last a lifetime. We’ve got our eyes on this absurdly cute strawberry-shaped AirPods holder, too.
Explorer
Australian brand Explorer was created with a strong vision: to make high-quality suitcases accessible to the average consumer. And with its Medium Checked Suitcase only setting you back a very reasonable $169, Explorer has certainly achieved what it set out to do.
Aidan
If you’re after premium luggage, Australian brand Aidan has a range that’s both luxurious and hard-working. Its utilitarian designs call to mind high-end brands like Rimowa, but thankfully Aidan’s suitcases retail at a more accessible price point.
Bellroy
Australian brand Bellroy creates with functionality, durability and sustainability in mind, so you know its travel range is going to deliver. With overnight bags, nifty backpacks and handy accessories like tech and toiletry bags, Bellroy’s designs will simplify your journey.
