Book review: Where’s Warhol?
A heady mix of childhood nostalgia and cultural relevancy.
I cannot explain to you my joy when this came across my desk. It was that level of excitement that makes you wee just a tiny lil’ bit and not tell anyone. It was that heady mix of childhood nostalgia and cultural relevancy.
It was Where’s Warhol?
Probably needing no explanation, Where’s Warhol? is a Warhol-oriented version of Where’s Wally. It’s got everything: the highly frequented Studio 54, overscaled Campbell’s tomato soup cans and every celeb from Grace Jones to Alfred Hitchcock.
Admittedly, the illustrations are a little overscaled themselves: Where’s Warhol? requires nowhere near the technical finesse the traditional childhood version calls for.
But whatever, you were never going to hunt for hours with a pencil to circle him anyway.
